Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte (1847)

This week, I read Jane Eyre. This book is a love story. this is pretty good because it has scary scene but it has very good ending.
I wrote down three quotes and will discuss them. The first one is:

"I told him about the noise outside my door and the terrible laugh" (p.17).

I thought this scene was so scary and I don't want to live such a house. In this scene, Jane don't know whose noise it is, and whose laughing it is, of couse, you will not be able to  understand either. When you keep on reading, you can understand the answer.
The second one is:

          "I'll tell you everything...." (p.29).

After this phrase, the truth become clear. I think this part is important because you can know the person who makes noise. It was Mr Rochester's wife. Jane want to marry with him, but she can't because of his strange wife. And he was suffered by his wife. this is very sad scene. the third one is:

"We have been married for ten years now" (p.42).

This is the last scene. I thought it was nice ending because they could marry although it had long time.

I want to recommend this book, because you will be able to enjoy some mysterious scenes, and feel good at last. Also, this setting was England in the 19th century. about the language difficulty-it was easy to read. I give this book 6 stars out of 10.

Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare (1595)

This week I read Romeo and Juliet. This is romance fiction story and very sad story. I like this story because this book bring me various kinds of feeling. I have never read or watched this story to the end, so this is first time for me.
I wrote down three quotes and will discuss them. The first one is: Romeo said,
“And if I have your love, they can kill me. I prefer to die than to live without your love” (p.13).
In this scene, Romeo tells her about his feeling for her. When I read this part, I thought he really loved Juliet and there is no meaning in his life without her. It is very strong will. The second one is: Romeo said,
“Ah, dear Juliet, why are you still so lovely? Eyes, look at Juliet for the last time! Arms, hold her for the last time! And mouth, kiss her for the last time” (p.48).
These are sad phrases because after those words, he die. He thought she was really dead, but she was still alive. This is very sad and famous scene. The third one is: Lord Capulet said,
“Give me your hand, brother Montague. Let’s be friends” (p.53).
This is the last scene. I knew the ends for the first time, but I thought this is good ending. Maybe, this story is unhappy ending from Romeo and Juliet’s position, but thanks to their romance, two families can have good relationship.
I want to recommend this book, because you can image the place, and character, and you can enjoy it. This is very interesting story. Also, the setting was Verona in the north of Italy, in the 14th century. Perhaps, this is too long, but let’s try it. I give this book 8 stars out of 10.

Matilda, by Roald Dahl (1996)

This week, I read Matilda. This book is fantasy story. This book is pretty good, because it was interesting. Matilda is very clever girl, and she has a special power. Her teacher, Ms. Honey knows this, and Ms.Trunchbull, head teacher doesn't like clever girl, and she is bad woman.

I wrote down three quotes from this book. The first one is:
"You wanted cake! Now you've got cake! And nobody will leave this room until you've eaten every bit of it!"(p.21)
A boy, Bogtrotter ate Ms.Trunchbull's cake. So she was angry and she made him eat a very big chocolate cake! Of couse, it is very hard. I thought this education is wrong. The second one is:
Matilda thought that

"I want to pick up the glass and drop the newt on Trunchbull's head!"(p.26)

I would think so if I were in this story, because Ms.Trunchbull shout and hold student's ear or head and lift them. And Matilda could act what she thought. It was mysterioius, but I liked what she did. Bad people need to have something bad happen to them. The third one is:

"She left the school and she left the village."(p.35)

I like this last scene. Ms.Trunchbull left the school and the village. And then, everyone is happy. Moreover, Matilda try to use her special power, but she can't. I thought her power is the thing to save her teacher and her friends.

I want to recommend this book, because you can understand again that bad things are returned to you. And some Matilda's trick is interesting. It is easy to read and a little long story. I gave this book 6 stars out of 10.

This is London

Today, I want to introduce this book.
This is wrote about London's history, shopping, travel and so on.

At first, I paid attention to this sentence.
"The houses in Shakespeare's London were built very close to each other. They were made of wood. On Saturday 2nd September 1666 there was a big fire. A quarter of a million people lost their homes.People built houses again   after the Great Fire. But this time they built them of stone and brick."
When I read this part, I thought because of this Great Fire,
present British building method was born.
There are a lot of brick houses in London. This is characteristic in London.

Second, I read chapter 2 -Places to Visit.
In this chapter, a big wheel which called London Eye is introduced.
We can see many buildings like Windsor castle and Gherkin.
"The Gherkin is a glass building. It looks like a vegetable!"
I was interested what the building such as vegetable was, so I searched
the picture.
「ガーキン ロンドン」の画像検索結果
This is The Gherkin. Gherkin means cucumber.

In this book, many explain about London is wrote. Therefore you can gain knowledge. Let's try it!!
