Love by Design (1998)

     This week, I read Love by Design. This is a romance story. I was  surprised because an unexpected things happens in this book. I wrote down three quotes and will discuss them.

     The first one is : "We can send them to all the different fashion magazines in London."(p.11)

I thought this is a good idea because both of them can come true their dreams.
Tom is clever.

The second one is : "PS we loved the coat that Rita wore in the photos. Does Rita know the name of the designer?"(p.16)

Rita is good at making clothes. She couldn't choose model, but her clothing was praised. I thought she should make her job what she like and she can do.

The third one is : "I know now that I shall never be a model. I want a different career. I want to make clothes, not wear them."(p.59) 

This ending is different from what I expected. I thought Rita became a model, but she didn't. Thus, it was interesting.

     In this book, 2 or 3 a little difficult words are exist  each pages, so it is good to read. However, I don't think this content is so good. I give this book 5 stars out of 10.

Tales of Ten Worlds by Arthur C. Clarke (1962)

     This week, I read Tales of Ten Worlds. This book is a science fiction sketchbook. I liked those stories because I was moved and interesting. So, I wanted to keep reading this book. From now, I am going to write down three quotes from "Dog star". This is my favorite story in this book and discuss it.
     The first one is:

"Leika was barking and scratching at the door" (p.38).

 this is a story about an astronaut and his lovely dog. An astronaut loved his dog, Leika. When earthquake happened, Leika informed to him, so he was survived. I thought Leika is very clever, good dog!

     The second one is:

"I had to choose between Leika and my job - and it wasn't an easy choice" (p.40)

After that, they were always together. But an astronaut was offered important job. And he choose the job at last. I thought it was a tough decision for him, because Leika was his favorite dog and his lifesaver.

     The third one is:

"Here on the Moon, she had come to me in a dream. She had saved me from another earthquake" (p.40)

A month later, Leika was dead, and as the years passed, he forgot about Leika. But when an earthquake happened again, he dreamed Leika was barking. And he was saved by Leika again. And then, he never forget her. It was an impressive story.

     I want to recommend this book, because this is a very nice and impressive story. They are SF stories, so if you like SF, please try it. About language difficulty - maybe, it was a little difficult because it includes universal words. But those stories are short, so you can enjoy many stories.
